The Health Sciences Library is happy to help with your information needs well beyond your students years at Columbia University.
With your Alumni ID you have access to library reading rooms and computer terminals to conduct research, as well as the ability to receive limited reference assistance from informationists. The library can also retrieve items from our offsite storage facility (ReCAP) for your research needs. (Please send an email request at least one week before your visit.) However, alumni are not permitted to borrow materials from the Health Sciences Library, use Borrow Direct or order books and articles through the interlibrary loan (ILL) service. For more information see the Physical Access level on our Access policy page.
All of the Health Sciences Library's electronic resources are available when onsite, however, when offsite only a selection of databases are available by special arrangement through the Columbia University Libraries. One electronic resource likely to be of special interest to CUMC alumni that alumni do have access to is JAMA. For more information on these resources please see the E-Resources section of the Columbia University 'Alumni & Friends' site.
For research queries please email us, preferably using your Columbia email account, which alumni may continue to use after graduation. For more information regarding your alumni email account see the Columbia Alumni Association's Alumni E-mail page.
