You can navigate to a ebook platform directly and browse by their collections. This can be useful because some providers, such as STAT!Ref, are focused exclusively on the health sciences.
The ability for citation export (EndNote, Mendeley, etc.), printing of full pages or chapters, downloading to PDF, and making annotations with in the platform will vary among the providers. Also each platform may have additional search options to narrow your search. For example, ScienceDirect has an advanced search tab that is configured to search only ebooks while the general search includes journals and images.
- NetLibrary (EBSCOhost)
- Books@OVID (OVID SP)
- Oxford Scholarship Online
- ScienceDirect (Elsevier)
- Wiley online library
- R2 Digital Library
- LWW Health Library
You can limit your search from the start by selecting 'E-Books' from the search dropdown on front page of the Columbia University Libraries website.
Or you can go directly to CLIO and select the ebooks tab, search and filter from there.
Because of licensing contracts only a limited number of simultaneous users are allowed for many of our ebooks. If there are too many users you will see a message such as 'The title you have requested has reached its user limit for this subscription. Please try again later.' and typically you should be able to access the item after a short wait. However if you are receiving a different error message or are having continual access problems please contact the Reference Desk or submit a 'Report an E-Resource problem' form.
