In order to provide service to appropriate users from off the Columbia University Medical Center campus we access and maintain personally identifiable information about library users. This information is limited to publicly available Columbia University Directory information and some permissions associated with library user UNI’s that are relevant to providing library services.
This information is never sold or released to third parties except as required by law.
Web statistics
We also use anonymized and aggregated information from visits to the library website including:
- Internet domain and IP address from which the HSL website was accessed
- Type of browser and operating system used
- Date and time website content was accessed
- Title of pages accessed
This information does not generally identify individual users and is only used within the library to try and make the library website more useful.
