Mai Uchida specializes in data analysis, visualization, and design as she is passionate about effective data story telling thorough design. She has several years of experience in spatial analysis using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software such as ArcGIS and QGIS. She also has rigorous training in data analysis in R and using publicly available datasets and creating new datasets by combining multiple data sources. She has professionally designed presentations, posters, exhibitions, marketing and educational materials using adobe creative suites and html/css.
Mai joined the Health Sciences Library in October of 2018. The scope of her responsibilities includes, but is not limited to, creating strategies for effective communication via visualization and design, providing services and guidance in data analysis, conducting workshops on GIS and R, data presentation, and other cutting-edge data platforms and topics.
She received BA in Political Science and Sustainable Development, MPH in Epidemiology, and MS in Urban Planning with a concentration in Urban Analytics all from Columbia University.
