Pivot is a database that aggregates funding opportunities from across the world and features researcher profiles to enable collaboration. Anyone can access Pivot while on Columbia University’s network or, if off-campus, can log in with their UNI. However, accounts are recommended as certain features such as alert emails are reserved for account holders.
Account Creation
To create an account:
- Visit https://pivot.proquest.com
- Click on Create Account
- Click Use Institutional Login Credentials
- Select Columbia University from the Institutional pull-down menu
- Enter your UNI and password
*Pivot may prompt you to claim an existing Pivot profile as Pivot automatically creates accounts for some Columbia University users.
Profile Details
Users can update their profiles to include biographical information, an ORCiD, links, publications, grants, and more. An updated profile helps attract potential collaborators and allows Pivot to suggest potential funding opportunities of interest.
Searching
The funding tab offers multiple ways to search: by keyword, free-text terms, and sponsor. Additionally, there is an advanced search option with multiple filters such as citizenship/residency requirements and activity location. Users can save searches for future reference and opt in to weekly funding alert emails. Users can also track and share specific opportunities of interest.
The conferences tab contains calls for papers for upcoming conferences, symposiums, meetings, and special issues of journals. The user can browse by subject, basic search, or advanced search.
