Winter Break Hours
From December 24th, 2025 through January 4th, 2026, the library Information Desk will be staffed as follows:
- December 24th- Desk will be open 10 a.m.-noon
- December 25th through 28th- Desk will be Closed
- December 29th and 30th- Desk will be open 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m.
- December 31- Desk will be open 10 a.m.-noon
- January 1st through 4th - Desk will be Closed
All CUIMC affilites will continue to have access to our spaces 24/7 with their valid CUIMC ID throughout the winter break. Regular hours will resume on January 5th, 2026.
Study Spaces
The Knowledge Center at the Health Sciences Library, located on the lobby level of the Hammer Health Sciences Center, welcomes affiliates of Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and Columbia University during the hours listed below, when ID swipe is not required. In addition, current CUIMC students, faculty, and staff may access the Knowledge Center 24/7 with a valid CUIMC ID. See our Access page for more details on our affiliated clientele.

Information Desk
The Information Desk is located in the Knowledge Center on the lobby level of the Hammer Health Sciences Center. Services such as book pick-up and return are available from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Thursday and 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The Information Desk is closed on University Holidays.
Self-checkout is available 24/7 in the Knowledge Center for the Health Sciences Library's circulating collections and course reserves materials.
Getting Here
The Hammer Health Sciences Building is located on the northwest corner of Fort Washington Avenue and West 168th Street.

The Columbia Shuttle runs between the Morningside Campus, Harlem Hospital Center and the Health Sciences Campus. This Shuttle is for Columbia Affiliates only.
