Automatically update your Pivot profile via ORCID

Pivot and ORCID are two useful services for keeping your research profile up to date so that potential collaborators and funders can easily see what work you've done and with whom.

Pivot is a database that aggregates funding opportunities from across the world and features researcher profiles to enable collaboration. The collaborative aspect of Pivot is driven through individual researcher profiles, which include biographical information, links, publications, grants, and more. An up-to-date profile allows Pivot to more accurately suggest potential funding opportunities of interest and helps to attract potential collaborators.

ORCID, which stands for Open Researcher and Contributor ID, is a freely available service that provides each researcher or research contributor with a unique identification number, rather than a Social Security number, that can be used in publications and grant applications to ensure there is no confusion as to who's done the work.(If you don't already have an ORCID, this article will walk you through how to create one.)

You can manually update your publication section in Pivot; however, if you already have an ORCID account, it's fastest to keep your Pivot account up to date by linking those two accounts. Once you link the accounts, your Pivot profile will automatically sync to your ORCID account.

To add your ORCID account to your Pivot profile, follow these steps:

  1. Go to Pivot and sign in with your UNI and password.
  2. Click the person icon in the top right corner and click “Sign in.” Then click “Access via My Institution Login” to log in to your personal Pivot account.
