Read by QxMD provides a platform on which to discover, read, save, and share journal articles on an Android or Apple phone or tablet. When configured for Columbia University, Read by QxMD provides one-tap access to full-text articles.

Configure the App

When starting Read by QxMD for the first time, the app will ask a few questions about profession, specialty, and location, then prompt the user to create an account. This information helps Read by QxMD recommend articles likely to be of interest.

Next, use the gear icon in the top left to configure Institutional Access. Search for Columbia University, and then input a valid UNI and password. Read by QxMD will use these to provide one-tap access to articles available only from Columbia University's subscription resources.

Use the App

The icons along the bottom of the screen access different functions.

Featured Feed – Recommended papers based on a user's account profile and reading history.

My Journals – A user-selected list of journals to follow.

My Collections – User-selected collections of journal articles shared by other Read by QxMD users.

My Keywords – User-defined keywords to help Read by QxMD make better suggestions for featured articles.

Saved Papers – Collections of papers saved within Read by QxMD. Collections can be private or public, and public collections can be shared with others. Use shared collections to facilitate journal clubs and alert colleagues to articles of interest. Saved papers are available for offline reading.

Search – Search PubMed from within Read by QxMD. Then, use the features of Read by QxMD to read, save, and share articles found.
